Vacheron Constantin ‘Petit Salmon’ 18k Pink Gold incl. Gay Frères Mesh Bracelet circa 1930

$ 94.91

This exceptional Vacheron Constantin ‘Petit Salmon’ dates to circa 1930, based on the movement number, and is a rare surviving example of early shaped wristwatch design at the highest level. The 18k pink gold case shows a crisp hallmark, sharp original bevels and edges, and appears possibly unpolished. It was made by Baumgartner (Geneva key no. 2), the distinguished case maker who also supplied cases for many important Patek Philippe references. The watch is further accompanied by its original 18k pink gold Gay Frères bracelet, constructed from small interlinked gold rings that create a textile like feel on the wrist. A true work of art, from one of the most important bracelet makers in watch making.The highlight is the astonishing original salmon dial, preserved with raised enamel numerals, signature, and minute track. The quality of execution is superb and characteristic of the finest Geneva production of the period. The warm tone of the dial harmonises beautifully with the pink gold case and bracelet, creating a highly desirable pink on pink configuration.Power comes from a high grade manually wound Vacheron Constantin movement, housed within a compact yet elegant 14 x 30 mm case. The watch also comes with its original Vacheron Constantin box, adding to the rarity and completeness of the offering.
