This Tavannes Ref. 2403 is a rare and early mono-pusher chronograph from the 1930’s. This particular example features a Staybrite stainless steel case and a stunning black gilt dial that has aged to a rich tropical brown tone over time. The matte gilt dial, with its warm patina and golden print, contrasts perfectly against the steel case, while the bold Arabic numerals enhance legibility and vintage appeal.Note that this is the exact same watch as the Heuer 2403 mono-pusher from the same era, but then it’s branded ‘Tavannes’. As we know from Tavannes, they made exceptional and high-quality wristwatches in the 1930-1950’s, and this interesting single button chronograph fits right in to that category.Inside beats the manual-wind Landeron Cal. 13 movement, a beautifully finished calibre known for its reliability and smooth operation. Measuring 32.5 mm, this watch wears elegantly while still commanding attention with its deep historical roots and distinct design.
